Sheraton Cebu Mactan celebrates Christmas, focuses on the community
Can you feel it? The air is getting colder, the streets are brighter, and all smiles are wider. Indeed, Christmas is just around the corner!
As the merriest season is approaching, Sheraton Cebu Mactan is all out to welcome the holidays with a first-ever Christmas tree lighting ceremony last November 7, 2022.
The lighting ceremony was spearheaded by Sheraton Cebu Mactan General Manager Dottie Wurgler-Cronin, Director of Operations Danish Khan, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Ahong Chan, and the property owners of the AppleOne Mactan Inc. Mr Ray Manigsaca and Engr. Venus Manigsaca.
Light of the Community
The luxury resort’s theme this year is “Christmas: Light of the Community,” which is on a mission to remind us to be hopeful despite the challenges of the pandemic. It also celebrates the hotel’s associates and the community and opens the first Marriott International resort in the Philippines.
According to Wurgler-Cronin, the theme was coined from Marriott International’s market-wide theme: the “Paskonstelasyon” through its loyalty program, Marriott Bonvoy.
In celebration of the holidays, Marriott International Philippines will be having the lantern and Christmas tree lighting ceremony at each of its six properties nationwide. And each day of the week, one Marriott International property in the Philippines will light up its lantern and Christmas tree to kick start its celebration of the Yuletide season.
Decors and Embellishments
Guests were left amazed as the Christmas tree at the Sheraton was lit. Mactan’s shell craft community designed the tree’s embellishments, each symbolizing different themes:
The starfishes are a resort element, while the twigs and sheaths or the sinamay symbolize remnants of each challenge during the pandemic and the super typhoon. Circular urchins resemble the associates coming and working together, and the shells suggest the adopted Community. Lastly, the star lanterns represent the first resort of Marriott International in the Philippines as the light of the Community.
Community-Focused Celebration
This year, Sheraton’s Christmas tree lighting heavily emphasized community as one of the property’s cores that puts people first.
Staying true to its theme, community talents made the celebration even more festive. Serenaded by renowned instrumentalists, the Rondalla group of Canjulao Elementary School graced the event with merry melodies. The Children’s Joy Foundation, one of Sheraton Mactan’s adopted communities, also showcased their talents at the lighting ceremony alongside homegrown associate singers.
Holiday Offerings
This year, make Christmas memorable with Sheraton’s exclusive holiday offerings for walk-in and in-house guests. At 5 Cien, a Christmas eve lunch and dinner buffet and a Christmas day lunch buffet will be available.
Companies and corporate clients may also celebrate with us with specially-curated packages ideal for an entirely unforgettable Yuletide celebration.
But there is more! Another reason to be excited about is the opening of the Nikkei-signature restaurant in Cebu, serving Japanese-Peruvian cuisine called DIP. They will serve a four-course menu dinner for Christmas Eve and a four-course set menu for Christmas Day lunch.
