Pagasa: Potential LPA looming off Mindanao; fair Thursday weather nationwide
MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) may form off Mindanao and trigger rainfall over the weekend, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Benison Estareja said a “circulation” that could become an LPA may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this weekend.
Meanwhile, fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers are expected nationwide on Thursday, Pagasa said in its early morning weather update.
No gale warning is effect over any of the country’s seaboards, Pagasa added.
Looming Mindanao LPA
“Habang meron po tayong namataang isang circulation dito sa labas ng Philippine area of responsibility na siyang posibleng maging low pressure area sa mga susunod na araw,” Estareja said.
(We have spotted a circulation outside the PAR that could become a low pressure area in the coming days.)
“Inaasahang unti-unting lalapit ito dito sa PAR line dito po sa silangang Mindanao,” he added.
(This will slowly approach the PAR line in eastern Mindanao.)
“As early as Sunday ng hapon ay posibleng magpa-ulan na dito sa eastern side of Mindanao particularly sa Caraga and Davao Region,” Estareja said.
(As early as Sunday afternoon, this could trigger rainfall in eastern Mindanao, particularly in the Caraga and Davao regions.)
