CEBU CITY, Philippines—Be careful who you leave your child with.

A babysitter who allegedly took the two-month-old child of her employer without consent  was arrested by police of the City of Naga, Cebu early Friday, April 14, 2023.

The suspect was identified by police as 19-year-old Janen Castro Nacorda, who is from Sitio Plus, Inayawan Pardo, Cebu City.

She was arrested in Barangay Balirong, City of Naga at around 1 a.m. on Friday.

Police said in a report that the suspect was just in her second day working as a babysitter for a couple in Brgy. South Poblacion, City of Naga when she allegedly took the baby without the parents’ consent on Thursday April 13. 

The parents sought the help of police when they found out the babysitter left with the baby without their permission and couldn’t be reached despite efforts of calling her. 

Police immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation and found the suspect early Friday.

The suspect is now detained at the custodial facility of the City of Naga Police Station pending the filing of charges. 

The City of Naga is located approximately 20 kilometers south of Cebu City.
